How much are you willing to lose just to look old?

For those of you who still don’t know or haven’t heard about it, FaceApp is a mobile application built for Android & iOS devices developed by a Russian company Wireless Lab which uses neural network technology to automatically generate highly realistic transformations of faces in photographs.

Users all around the world have been using it to look and share how they would look when they get old.

But what’s up with all the controversies?

Apparently, various online sources were claiming that the App can use your pictures for their future business uses without asking for your approval.

It is clearly mentioned on the App’s privacy policy page that they may share your pictures and other personal information like your contacts, device details, location, etc with their partner companies and with third-party organizations that help them provide the Service.

In short, your personal information is kept in the hands of companies and persons who can use it as they want, whenever they want and however they want.

What actually they’ll be doing with the data?

They’ll be using these millions of user images and other information to develop their future AI-based solutions. Something like a facial recognition system.

So if you’re a FaceApp user and in coming future, you see some great facial recognition of some sort you can actually thank yourself for making your contribution.
